Point your camera at any piece of gear. FeatherPack recognizes it and pulls its weight, no scale, no typing, no spreadsheet row.
FeatherPack is live on the App Store for iPhone.
An actual scan, not a mockup, FeatherPack reading a label in real time.
Ultralight backpackers already obsess over every gram, the hard part was never caring enough, it was the hours of typing names and estimating weights before you even had a number to obsess over. FeatherPack skips straight to the number.
Type the name. Guess the weight. Copy it into a row. Repeat for every item in your closet.
Point. Snap. Done. Your whole gear closet, logged in the time it takes to walk around the room.
No manual entry. No guesswork. Just point, snap, and see the weight.
Real screens, straight from the app.
FeatherPack fills in the name, the brand and the weight while you're still holding the item. Glance, fix anything that's off, tap "Add to inventory," and it's in your gear closet before you've even set the item down.
Three completely different items, one scanning session, zero pauses to type anything in between.
This stove's brand tag wore off years ago. FeatherPack still names it and estimates its weight, clearly marked with a "≈", so you always know what's measured and what's a guess.
No camera handy, or just want full control? Every field is still yours to edit by hand, the scanner is a shortcut, never a requirement.
Most gear trackers make you type in every item by hand. FeatherPack starts with your camera instead, so your inventory builds itself.
Dump your whole gear closet on the floor, one scan gets it all. FeatherPack recognizes what it's looking at, estimates the weight, and adds it straight to your inventory.
Build your gear library once, your "Lager", then pull items into a trip-specific pack, your "Sekk", in seconds. No re-entering the same tent twice.
Watch your total pack weight against ultralight and light targets as you build, and see exactly what to cut before you leave home.
This is the exact flow from the app's own first-run walkthrough, four steps, no manual is required.
Point the camera at the label, a brand mark, or the item itself. FeatherPack reads the name, the brand and the weight, you type nothing.
Everything you own, in one place, with a photo and a weight. Scan it once, use it on every trip you plan from here on.
One list per trip. Pull items out of the inventory and the base weight adds itself up as you go.
See what's weighing you down, swap it for something lighter, and carry less next weekend than you did last.
A typical 3-day ultralight trip runs about 50 items, shelter and sleep system, clothing, cook and water gear, food, hygiene, electronics. Here's roughly how long that takes to log, start to finish.
This is our own estimate, not a lab measurement, we couldn't find published data on real-world entry times in apps like LighterPack, so we modeled it transparently: ~50 items for a typical 3-day trip, ~45–90 sec per item to recall or weigh it and type the name, weight and category into a manual tracker (~55 min total), vs. ~8–15 sec per item to photograph it and let FeatherPack identify and weigh it, including the occasional short wait while it works out an exact weight (~10 min total). Scanning isn't perfect, see how accurate it really is.
